Demosea wanted to get in on the friendly action and decided to do the..... Verzuz Battle of Product Ingredients featuring DOVE Dry Skin Relief Face Wash VS. Demosea (Refine Face Wash. We are breaking down the first 5 ingredients in these two skincare products. 

If you are not aware, there is something called the first 5 rule in cosmetics. This rule claims that because the first five ingredients listed on a label have the highest percentages, they will ultimately affect the performance of the product. What I know to be true is, formulators/makers are required to list ingredients in order of highest to lowest concentration. Today, to save time and because of the first 5 rule, we are only going to battle it out with the first 5 ingredients in these two products.

Water (Aqua)

Used to dissolve the caustic to make soap or as a filler.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice.

Liquid from the interior of the leaves of the Aloe plant. Hydrates and improves the surface of the skin.

Petrolatum

Derived from petroleum, is often used in personal care products as a moisturizing agent. 

EcoCert Decyl Glucoside

A non-ionic surfactant, ideal for cleansing products. obtained from renewable raw materials, through a combination of plant based fatty alcohols.

Mild, and gentle, surfactant and because it does not dry the skin.

Stearic Acid

Thickener and emulsion stabilizer. when neutralized Stearic Acid forms an in-situ soap (Sodium Stearate) which can be used as an emulsifier or cleansing agent. 

EcoCert Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate

A food grade, emulsifier derived from the sodium salt of lactic acid esterified with lauric acid.  Offers unsurpassed skin moisturization and a smooth feel on application.

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil is made from highly refined, purified and processed petroleum. Moisturize and prevent TEWL.

Vegetable Glycerin

A humectant which absorbs, and holds, water. Glycerin serves as hydration, binding moisture to the skin.

Glycol Stearate

Glycol stearate is the ester of ethylene glycol and stearic acid. It is generally used as a pearlizing agent in shampoos and liquid hand soaps.
