Happy New Year! Coming off the heels of such a weird and trying year, I hope that this email finds you healthy and safe.

If possible, it is important to take time to Reset, from the inside out.

Recently, I had the opportunity to get away for a few days and initially I said NO. I had too much to do. As I thought about it, I had to be honest with myself, I was tired as hell. Mentally and physically.  2020 took a lot out of me. I needed this time away.

A getaway was not only a luxury, it was a necessity. For me.

So..... I took off to beautiful Utah.

I focused on breathing deep and taking in the crisp air. Grounding myself. Going for walks. Taking in nature.  Thinking about what makes me truly happy. Praying.

I focused on being present.

I understand not everyone can getaway to the mountains to reset. No worries, you can do this right from your home. Here are a few tips on how to get back to the healthiest and happiest version of yourself, so that you can meet 2021 head on.

Try a nutritional reset - cleaning up your diet can start with eliminating foods that don't make you feel great or what we call "trigger foods". From there, add in more nutritional foods and greens. Try a water challenge where you drink at least 8-8 oz of water a day. Also, add a probiotic to your routine.  It may be worth it to look into a gentle cleanse.

Reset your sleep cycle - Sleep is important for a healthy immune system. Quality sleep is important to look and feel your best. If you are not receiving quality sleep it may be helpful to reset your sleep cycle. Here are a few ways to do that: 1) Create a winding down time. Give yourself 3 hours after you eat to wind down. 2) Try keeping the same waking hours. Give yourself 6-8 hours of sleep a night. 3) Create a nightly ritual that you stick to.

Try meditation and deep breathing - Deep breathing and mediation is a great way to feel grounded. Download a mediation app to help you with this technique. I recommend Headspace. You can find it in the app store if you have an iphone. Try this for 10-14 days.

Take a social media break - I know you may not realize this, but constantly being on social media and being consumed by news, drama, or other peoples lives is sucking the life out of you. Give your mind and spirit a break from constant outside stimuli. Try doing a digital detox for a couple of days at a time. Stretch it out to more days if you can. Journal how you feel during.

Get moving - Get sweating. Sweating helps to remove toxins from your body, so it is important to do some type of activity to get you moving and sweating. Dancing, running, yoga, hiking, etc are all great ways to exercise. Incorporate daily movement into your reset routine.

Reset your skincare routine - Get back to the basics. If you find that your routine is overwhelming to you and isn't working, eliminate everything but the basics such as: cleanser, hydrating or treatment toner (maybe), moisturizer, and sunscreen. Document daily how your skin feels. After 2 weeks, if you skin barrier starts to feel better, slowly start to incorporate your treatments.
